The Minister of Innovation, Research and University of the Government of Aragon, Pilar Alegría Continente, and the general director of Electronic Administration and Information Society, Fernando García Mongay, today received the Director of Institutional Relations of Orange Spain, Luz Usamentiaga, as well as the territorial director of Institutional Relations of the company, Montserrat Cereza, to know the initiatives that the operator is carrying out to support the technological transformation and the economic and employment growth in the Community.
As part of this commitment, the Orange directives have highlighted the investment plans in communication infrastructures of the latest generation – optical fiber and 4G – that Orange has in this Community, in a clear commitment to promote the technological modernization of companies and citizens.
With regard to fiber optic enclosure price, the company plans to arrive with its fixed super-broadband network, at the end of this year, to some 412,000 homes and businesses in the 27 first Aragonese municipalities per population: Aínsa-Sobrarbe, Alcañiz, Alcorisa, The Almunia of Doña Godina, Andorra, Barbastro, Binéfar, Cadrete, Calanda, Calatayud, Caspe, Cuarte de Huerva, Ejea de los Caballeros, Fraga, Híjar, Huesca, La Puebla de Alfindén, Monzón, Pinseque, Quinto, Sabiñánigo, Tarazona, Teruel, Utebo, Villanueva de Gállego, Zaragoza and Zuera.
This project will be carried out thanks to an accumulated investment of 68 million euros.
It is worth mentioning that currently they enjoy all the advantages, in terms of speed and quality of the communications provided by the FTTH technology, for a total of 370,000 homes in Aragon.
A mobile network prepared for the technologies of the future
Parallel to the construction of this fiber network, Orange has so far allocated 46 million euros to deploy 4G mobile technology in the Aragonese Community, thanks to which 91% of its citizens can now navigate with maximum speed of mobile data transfer.
Orange will allocate an additional 3 million this year to complete the 4G deployment in the three provinces of Aragon, prepare its network for the new technologies of the future and optimize the browsing experience of all users of its network wherever they are.
In this way, the total investment that Orange will devote to this deployment of fiber optic enclosure manufacturer networks to the home and 4G mobile network in Aragon will total 117 million euros by the end of 2018.
